Companion mode support for all platforms:

  • Companion mode, which uses your smartphone as a handheld shortcut remote, is now available on all platforms.
  • *To use Companion mode, install Clip Studio Paint on both your smartphone and computer or tablet device. If already installed, please make sure that the app is up to date on both devices.

WIP webtoon preview on smartphones:

  • You can now preview in-progress webtoons on smartphones. Edit your work in Clip Studio Paint while checking its appearance with a smartphone. This function can be used when a smartphone is connected in Companion mode.

Added Color Mixing Palette:

  • Text layers created in Clip Studio paint can be exported to text layers in Photoshop PSD and PSB formats. Text layer export settings can be configured in the Export Settings dialog from File menu> Save Duplicate and Export multiple pages > Batch export.

Improvements to shadows cast by 3D materials:

  • Added Shadows follow light source to the Rendering settings dialog when selecting a 3D layer. Shadows cast on the surface of a 3D material will correspond to the direction of the light source.

Mode Selector for Companion mode:

  • Added a mode selector to Companion mode. Assigning modifier keys available for the currently selected tools, such as Shift, Ctrl, and Alt, allows you to perform their operations easily and quickly. This method is easier than using the edge keyboard to switch between assigned operations.

Other Improvements and Changes:

  • We have also made some other improvements, specification changes, and bug fixes based on feedback from Clip Studio Paint users.
  • We have made speed improvements to the Liquify tool. The display may look coarse while dragging but will improve after the effect is applied. Note that the liquify effect may be slightly different from its equivalent in other apps.
  • The default location of the Liquify Sub tool has been changed from the Color Mixing tool Sub tool palette to the Liquify tool on the Tool palette. If updating to Ver. 1.12.0 from Ver. 1.11.6 or later, the location of the Liquify Sub tool will not change.
  • Improvements to processing speed when saving a large canvas to the Clip Studio Format (extension: .clip) have been made.
  • Added Confirm transformations with double-click or double-tap to Command in the Preferences dialog. Toggling on and off sets whether or not a double-click or double-tap is used to confirm a transformation performed from the items under Edit menu > Transform.

  • Embed ICC Profile can now be set from File menu > Export (Single Layer), even if Export settings dialog’s Expression color is set to Auto detect appropriate color depth. The same applies when the Export settings dialog is accessed from the File menu > Export multiple pages > Batch export.

  • (Windows/macOS/iPad/iPhone) When external 3D data is dragged and dropped onto a Clip Studio Paint canvas, just like when a 3D material is dragged and dropped from the Material palette, a 3D layer will be created on top of the currently selected layer.
  • (iPhone/Galaxy/Android) When File menu > Save is selected, the file is saved in the same Clip Studio format (extension: clip) as when the app auto-saves.
  • (Windows/Galaxy) A single swipe on the Gesture Pad in Companion mode can now be used to move the canvas, regardless of the touch gesture settings.
  • (Galaxy) The button layout when connecting to Companion Mode has been changed.

  • The Use of work term in the New dialog box has been replaced with Project.

DEBUT:
